Project Details
Description
I have received £1800 from the Global Challenges Ad-Hoc support scheme to cover the costs of a two-week visit to Peru, which seeks to deepen existing connections with the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), and to develop an conversation about racism and education that started in Bristol, as part of the final conference linked to the 'Addressing Culture and Inequality in Latin America' project in June 2018. Through the sharing of research material between scholars of different disciplines, and particularly by putting historians in dialogue with scholars working in contemporary Peru, the aim is to create new knowledge about what is possible in the present, and to help open up debates about current education reform proposals, and how these link to issues of race and social justice.
