Regulatory perspectives on automated decision-making in public administration

Project Details

Description

Automated decision-making (ADM) is an increasingly popular technology, adopted by governments globally. In order to achieve good outcomes for citizens, ADM technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), should be well regulated. This project draws upon regulatory theory to analyse the activities of officials, the Information Commissioner's Office, Parliament, and the courts, to discern what governance arrangements already exist and to identify gaps in the regulatory framework. Project findings will inform policy on the use of ADM systems by public bodies.
