Respecting Rocks

The aim of this project is to critically assess needs and expertise required to establish a national network of researchers and practitioners who are engaged in ethical ways of working with rocks and minerals. The aim of the network is to create a platform that is relevant to academic disciplines but also practising artists, communities and the general public. The purpose of the network will be to share expertise, practical and ethical guidance and protocols, and drive emerging research about past, current and future collecting and related repatriations. It will draw on global examples and experts from around the world, but be a UK focused network.

How do we create a national community of researchers and practitioners engaged in ethical ways of working with rocks and minerals at the same time as creating protocols of collecting that are not only relevant to academic disciplines but also practising artists, communities and the general public.
