Description
Improving maternal and infant health care: gender, socio-culturally sensitive practices and accessible (in)formation for patients and health professionals.
Layman's description
This interdisciplinary research network that seeks to enhance the relationship between health professionals and female patients in Spain. As part of this three-year research project, my work centers on the critical analysis of cultural representations of women’s reproductive health in Spanish television, with particular attention to the ways in which media narratives shape societal understandings of gender and reproductive matters. I will also contribute to the development of an educational video series that critically examines cultural portrayals of effective and ineffective practices in interactions between medical professionals and patients within the context of maternal and infant health care, as depicted in contemporary film and television. The resulting materials will be integrated into the training programmes of health professionals to foster more informed and culturally sensitive approaches to patient care. The network is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.
