SDDS: Scripture, Dissent, Deaf Space

Leverhulme Trust-funded project, investigating the spaces produced for, and by, the 19th century Deaf community within the first purpose-built church for Deaf, signed worship - St Saviour's, on Oxford Street, from 1870 to 1922.

Layman's description

We're investigating the first church building in the UK built specifically for a signing Deaf congregation, how the church understood what it was doing in providing for Deaf people, and what the Deaf community did with the space once it was established.
