Description
This is a collaboration between colleagues in Modern Langauges and Population Health Sciences at the UoB and members of the Sport and Exercise Research Cluster at the Moore Institute, NUI, Galway, funded by the International Strategic Fund. The aim is to explore how attitudes towards sports, exercise and healthy living are grounded in particular cultures and histories; the part that the histories of medicine, exercise and sports have played in this; the cultural barriers to exercise that have developed around gender, age and race; and how cross-disciplinary dialogue might surmount these.
