Project Details

StopWatch (patent pending) is a smartwatch-based system for passive detection of cigarette smoking. It uses data from the motion sensors in a commercially available smartwatch, and identifies smoking events by applying an analytic pipeline that runs entirely on the watch itself. It does not require the user to wear any specialist sensing devices, and there is no need for a networked smartphone running an analytic pipeline. The system is subject independent, and does not need to be trained to recognise an individual’s smoking gestures.
