The Iraqi Kurdistan project

The Centre for Gender and Violence Research at the University of Bristol is collaborating with the University of Sulaimani, Iraqi Kurdistan, to develop and sustain capacity regarding research, teaching and training, via a sister centre of CGVR: the Gender and Violence Studies Centre based at the University of Sulaimani. The project is overseen by Prof Marianne Hester and Dr Nazand Begikhani is the Senior Research Fellow, working with the Gender and Violence Studies Centre to develop research, teaching and training on gender issues, awareness raising activities as well as establishing ongoing links and networks involving women’s organisations, government bodies and academic organisations in Iraqi Kurdistan.
