Project Details
Description
The National Federation of Women’s Institutes is the largest women’s organisations in the UK with over 205,000 members throughout England and Wales. It has historically been an organisation for women in rural areas. The WI would like to know more about violence against women in rural areas. The objective of this research is to compare and contrast violence against women in rural and urban settings.
Four focus groups will be carried to determine the content of the survey. The main component of this project is an on-line survey which will be advertised nationally for women, including non WI members, to complete. The research team aim for survey returns from 1000 rural and 1000 urban women. The WI will print and hold paper copies of the survey and distribute them as necessary. The research team anticipate conducting 20 telephone interviews with women from both rural and urban areas about violence against women.
