Description
The Working Together with Parents Network (WTPN) based at the Norah Fry Research Centre will focus in 2013 and 2014 on engaging with the wide range of professionals which could be involved with parents with learning difficulties (such as mainstream health, family support services as well as solicitors, judges etc) in order improve support for parents with learning difficulties or learning disabilities. On-going support has been shown to improve the welfare of the children in these families.
WTWPN began in 2006 and aims to support professionals working with parents with learning difficulties through sharing and promoting positive practice at both local and national level. The network currently has around 500 members and is organised by a core group made up of three partner organisations: the Norah Fry Research Centre, the Scottish Consortium for Learning Disability and Learning Disability Wales. There are regional networks in England Wales and Scotland.
