Abstract
Two-contact 2D-lattice grating lasers are found to allow high-speed, single-mode operation at low drive currents suitable for use in low cost datalinks. Extinction ratios of 6 dB at 85°C are achieved at drive currents of 30 mA in device structures which in DFB form would not operate at such currents
