Abstract

In the structure of the title compound, C12H9NO5S, the phenyl and 4-nitrophenyl rings are not coplanar, the dihedral angle being 53.91 (4)degrees. The structure contains weak intermolecular C-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds and face-to-face pi-pi interactions between symmetry-related phenyl rings (separation 3.664 angstrom).
