Abstract

A dialkylborenium ion stabilized by an N-heterocyclic carbene has been prepared for the first time by reaction of IMes.9-BBN-H with triflic acid. The ion-separated nature of the borenium ion was confirmed by H-1 and F-19 diffusion ordered NMR spectroscopy.
