Abstract
The Habitation Extension M:odule (HEM) is a study concept to explore the implications of a British contribution to the International Space Station that would lead to full partnership of that programme, as a contribution to the ongoing debate on UK human space flight policy. The technical details of the study design are outlined to demonstrate the feasibility of the programme and the basis for the cost estimate. It also shows hom the HEM not only can meet the operational needs of space station support, but also be a proving programme for technologies with relevance to future human mission to the Moon and Mars.
