Abstract

(Chemical Equation Presented) Complex aza-fuzed tricyclic lactones are obtained in a two-step photochemical cycloaddition/acid-catalyzed rearrangement of simple alkoxy maleimide derivatives. The sequence involves a complex acid-catalyzed skeletal rearrangement of the intermediate alkylideneoxetanols.
