Abstract
The article aims at presenting a cross-disciplinary project on the histories and memories of the Jews from Libya: Mapping Living Memories: The Jewish Diaspora from Libya across Europe and the Mediterranean. The project was designed and carried out by the authors of this article; its main outcome is a collection of interviews with fifty men and women who consider themselves to be Jews and who left Libya from the 1940s to the 1960s, moving to Italy, Israel, France and the UK. The purpose of this article is twofold: firstly, to outline the premises and distinctive features of the project, highlighting how the collection contributes to the further elaboration of the notion of ‘Libyan Jewry’; secondly, to point out the potential of this project for postcolonial
