Abstract

This paper describes measurements of wind and traffic induced vibrations of the Humber Bridge to determine vertical, lateral and torsional vibration characteristics of the deck and towers. Experimentally obtained natural frequencies and mode shapes have been compared with theoretical results. The theoretical model, the testing procedure and deployment of the sensing instruments, and the data analysis techniques are explained.
