Abstract

The authors describe an accelerated life test for bicycle freewheels which is representative of actual service conditions. A test rig is presented which uses a computer data acquisition and control system to simulate the test programme. The test has been devised because no life test is recommended by British Standards for the bicycle transmission system, except for an independent kinetic test for the pedals.
