Abstract

Results are presented from the full-wave analysis of an active integrated antenna using the FDTD method, extended to include circuit elements. A microstrip active circulator is integrated with a short-circuited inset-fed quarter-wavelength microstrip antenna to form a transceiver. The concurrent simulation of circuit devices and antennas permits prediction of the transmit-receive isolation and radiation patterns taking into account the coupling introduced by the compact arrangement
