Abstract

Motivated by recent experiments on F-actin and myosin in the presence of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), an example of the nonequilibrium behavior of biofilaments was studied: the fluctuating dynamics of polar filaments with active centers. For the statics, it was found that the filaments have a length-scale-dependent rigidity. Dynamically, strongly enhanced anomalous diffusion was observed.
