Abstract

The first part is concerned with frequency, mode-shape and response measurements on a thin, cylindrical model dam. Tests include steady-state vibration and transient input from a shaking table, with measurement of hydrodynamic pressure. The second part presents similar measurements and calculations on a 1 : 250 model of the Victoria arch dam. Consideration is given to excitation of the base of the dam by different inputs, generally leading to a reduction of response. (A)
