Abstract

Asymmetric synthesis of enantiomerically enriched atropisomeric amides was carried out by desymmetrisation of N,N-dialkylmesitamides. Lithiation and silylation of the latter using chiral lithium amide bases was performed. The technique of including an electrophile in situ in the reaction mixture resulted in an improvement in the enantiomeric excess and yield.
