Abstract

This report presents findings from a qualitative study exploring attitudes towards investment choice and risk within the personal accounts pension scheme. The study comprised of 14 focus groups conducted between January and February 2008 in locations across the UK with individuals who would be eligible for automatic enrolment under the Government's workplace pension reforms. This study was commissioned as part of a wider programme of research and analysis carried out by the DWP to gather evidence to inform the Government's programme of pension reforms to encourage and enable more people to save for retirement. The research was conducted by Sharon Collard (PFRC) and Zoey Breuer (ECOTEC).
