Uninvited Guests, Oh, The Guilt, Paul Clarke

Abstract

A participatory performance, with Oh, The Guilt, commissioned by Tempting Failure, London's biennial of international performance art and noise.

We call on people to gather with us in Croydon, to read the day's newspapers together, to speak and to listen. This is what the papers say according to you, the news at The Spread Eagle. This is your chance to get some things off your chest, to have a rant, speak truth to power and really vent your spleen.

We will be newscasters casting out bad news, and we will exorcise the day’s concerns through the curative power of post-punk noise.

In these troubled times of uncertainty and division, Uninvited Guests return to their 2012 show Make Better Please and rework it with Bristol band Oh, The Guilt.

Uninvited Guests originally collaborated with Oh, The Guilt on Breaking News as part of Sanctum, Theaster Gates' first public project in the UK.
