Charlemagne in the Francophone World and Occitania

Research output: Book/Report › Edited book

Abstract

This volume in the Charlemagne: A European Icon series is authored by four specialists covering different regions of Medieval Francophonia and Occitan and edited by M.J. Ailes and Philip Bennett. The studies are structured using a theoretical framework based on the work of Dumezil. The section on Anglo-Norman is designed to complement the material in 'The Charlemagne Legend in Medieval England' focusing on the texts which were not translated into Middle English, looking particularly at the sacral aspects of medieval kingship and at Charlemagne as a just or unjust king.
