    Abstract

This is the first-ever book to examine cochlear implantation experiments from a variety of critical perspectives. Several distinguished writers contribute chapters. My chapter has been deemed the perfect overall introduction and frameworking of the book's issues, and has therefore been moved to Chapter 1.
