Abstract

Nucleophilic addition of organolithiums to electron-rich π systems such as aromatic rings or alkenes can lead either to dearomatizing cyclization, to carbolithiation, or to aryl or alkenyl migration. The development and application of these reactions during the 15 years between 1998 and 2013 are discussed in this chapter.
