Abstract

This article considers the epidemiology, aetiology, pathology, contemporary investigation and management of deep vein thrombosis within the lower limb, particularly in the light of the 2012 NICE guidelines. It does not consider venous thromboprophylaxis or venous thrombo-embolism within the upper limb.
