Abstract

This paper presents the design of a new 60-element antenna array for breast cancer detection. Operating in the frequency range 48GHz, the array improves on the team's previous designs both in terms of the number of measurements made (which is increased by a factor of approximately 4) and in terms of speed. The array has undergone phantom testing and at the time of writing is in the Breast Care Centre at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, undergoing an extensive Clinical Trial.
