Abstract
In this article we review the state of
the art development of fibre-optic Raman
probes for in vivo tissue diagnosis in the
upper gastrointestinal tract. We identify
the major breakthroughs in probe development,
reflect on results of the first in
vivo trials, and discuss the crucial challenges that must be overcome before
Raman spectroscopy can be considered
for widespread clinical implementation.
