Abstract
The diode-recovery current in a clamped-inductive-load circuit is suppressed by a current transformer in series with the diode. The burden resistor of the transformer is connected in series with the gate of the voltage-controlled switch and restrains turn-on while the diode recovers. This method permits the use of a very small current transformer.
