Abstract

This paper investigates the effect of low Earth orbit satellite diversity by performing a series of propagation experiments, in several environments, using the GPS satellite constellation. The results reported investigate the variation in link outage probability between satellite channels which are separated in both in azimuth and elevation. Satellite channels are then combined using the modified terrestrial handover algorithm and the resultant link outage is computed
