Abstract
This book will will develop new theoretical and practical insights in order to examine the following tensions and themes:
• the erosion of boundaries between informal and formal learning;
• the ways in which young people’s out-of-school use of digital technologies impacts on learning in schools and exacerbates existing inequalities in society;
• the tension between skills and knowledge in the school curriculum;
• the tension between a focus on learner-centred personalised learning and collective knowledge;
• the need for radical change to the assessment system in order to develop schooling for a just society.
