Abstract

The accurate analysis of complex planar resonators using the finite element method often requires the evaluation of the elements of a large matrix. This is computationally expensive. In this contribution it is shown that by using the fast Fourier transform together with asymptotic forms of the Green's function the computation time can be greatly reduced allowing the solution of relatively complex problems on a small computer.
