Enhancing Spectrum of Care Learning in the Veterinary Curriculum: Perspectives from a UK Institution

Abstract

Bristol Veterinary School has implemented a range of initiatives which support Spectrum of Care pedagogy within a long-established veterinary program. Primary care and specialist approaches are represented through a case-based learning, a semi-distributed model for final year, a strategic approach to faculty recruitment, and a focus on interprofessional learning. This article describes how each of these approaches has been developed, highlighting some of the challenges faced and potential solutions. We offer our experiences in the hope of supporting discussions in other settings, whilst acknowledging that every institution operates in its own context, with its own unique opportunities and challenges.
