Abstract

This ICIF White Paper will discuss the value and challenges of adopting a systemic approach to infrastructure delivery. The current approach to infrastructure planning and delivery within the UK has a tendency to be “fragmented and reactive”. Existing infrastructure systems and new infrastructure projects are often viewed in relative isolation from one another. The original National Infrastructure Plan notes: “opportunities to maximise infrastructure’s potential as a system of networks have not been exploited”. A systemic approach to infrastructure delivery could address this. The structure is based around questions raised at the previous ICIF meeting.
