Abstract
Mention CCTV cameras and automated facial recognition (AFR), and we all probably picture scenes of crowd control or similar scenarios where the technology is used in a coercive manner. More positive uses, of which there are many – like healthcare, facilities management and authorising access to banking or mobile communications – are less likely to occur to us.
