Abstract
This paper explores new ways of introducing students to the fundamental concepts of RF and Microwave Engineering with the aid of simulation tools and animations. It highlights the importance of enabling students to 'fiddle' with their RF circuits, by means of an RF simulator, to gain a better understanding of the subject. Time Domain reflectometry is also shown to be an excellent teaching tool which facilitates the understanding of physical phenomena which affect transmission lines. The usefulness of animations is also demonstrated.
