Abstract
This research addresses the problem of illegal funding of political parties in Mexico. In light of the main recommendations of the state of the art, ten indicators are constructed to analyze what electoral laws state for political parties in matters such as access to public information, transparency, budget control and anti-corruption at the local and federal levels. The results of these indicators suggest that not only Mexican electoral laws are far from complying with the recommendations of the experts, but also there is no common and consistent vision in them around to seriously address the problem of illegal financing of parties. The different types of sanctions against the transgression of these laws are also reviewed. The research concludes with some policy recommendations in order to propose some measures that strengthen our regulatory framework in the field.
