Abstract
This chapter is for education-focused academics who have come to higher education from a significant business background. It suggests ways to leverage skills and experience acquired in industry to benefit their educational practice and HE career. This offers a conceptual framework that calls for the playing of three ‘roles’: The Story-Teller, The Manager of Optimising, and The Leader of Learning. Each offers ideas, approaches, and examples that education-focused academics can use to enhance teaching and learning, drive improvement in education systems and processes, and bring beneficial change to their organisations.
