Abstract
Creativity is a key dimension in the emergence of “global cities” theoretically and practically. This chapter outlines how research on, and policymaking for, global city-making has engaged with creativity, and the thriving literature that has highlighted this nexus. Building on a call for a broader “global urban” interpretation of this domain, the chapter advocates for engaging with scholarship that has recast engagement with creativity from beyond the Global North, in a more cosmopolitan fashion, and in a lens that, in return, can expand practitioners’ imaginaries of how creativity is a dimension of global city-making, not just an asset.
