Abstract

This paper aims to compare the use of higher order discontinuous Galerkin solutions in-terms of accuracy and cost. The test cased used is a long-range, wide-body transport airplane configuration at a Reynolds number of 25 million and a Mach number of 0.86. Simulations are performed at a range of angles of attack with aircraft in its aeroelastic shape for each incidence. For the DG simulations are performed on both linear and quadratic meshes to investigate the effect of better matching the surface geometries on coarser meshes.
