Abstract:
Examines the ECtHR judgment in Vrountou v Cyprus (33631/06) on whether the refusal by the Cypriot authorities to grant a refugee card, and therefore eligibility for housing assistance, to the applicant on the ground that, under Cypriot law, the children of a mother displaced from Northern Cyprus in 1974 but whose father was not so displaced were denied "displaced" status themselves, had breached her rights under ECHR art.14 and Protocol 1 art.1.
