Curved beam bending tests have been carried out to measure interlaminar tensile strength of HTA/913 carbon fibre-epoxy. Scaled tests on high quality unidirectional specimens showed a size effect with a 20% reduction in strength for a factor of 4 increase in specimen dimensions. Specimens with (0/Â±45) layup gave similar strengths to unidirectional ones. A reduction of at least 21% was found for specimens failing in areas where manufacturing quality was not so high.
