    Abstract

This book offers a radical departure from the more traditional literature and brings together a number of writers from contemporary social and psychoanalytic theoretical persuasions. Importantly, the application of theoretical insights informs the ways in which the contributors’ work is undertaken in practice, and actual case examples and empirical data in the form of the words of people with learning disabilities and those closest to them underpin many of the chapters.
