Abstract

The discussion between Paul Ginsborg, Perry Anderson, Simon Parker and John Foot, originally published in 2000, focusses on the issues and questions that formed the central themes of Ginsborg’s then recently-published book on the Italy of the 1980s and 1990s, which in its English version would be entitled Italy and Its Discontents. Ginsborg reflects on his methods and choices and explains how his approach to contemporary Italy evolved following his move from Cambridge to Florence.
