Abstract

A ring-core fiber with a novel modulated-refractive-index profile is reported, whose low attenuation (∼0.2 dB/km) and low inter-mode-group coupling coefficient (<-36 dB/km for adjacent high-order mode groups), both setting records for a ring-core fiber.
