Abstract
The present disclosure relates to a method and device for detecting smoking gestures. A wrist-worn device includes a gyroscope and an accelerometer which provides signals representing movement of a wearer's arm. A processor within the device receives signals from the gyroscope and the accelerometer and determines whether the signals represent movement that corresponds to the act of smoking. If so, the device may issue an alert to the user.
