Abstract

Optimal and sub-optimal linear minimum mean-square error (MMSE) frequency-domain equalisers are derived for single-carrier systems employing unique-word based block transmissions. These equalisers differ from those presented in the literature for cyclic-prefix based systems. The effects of channel estimation on the performance of these equalisers are also addressed. It is shown that the proposed MMSE equaliser performs 2 dB better than the conventional MMSE equaliser
