Abstract
Although applications were only shown for the case of medical images, at the time of publication the method described in this paper arguably constituted the world state-of-the-art in image denoising performance in general. The work attracted a significant amount of peer interest, being cited 32 times in archival journals (cf. Institute of Scientific Information) and 51 times in total (cf. http://scholar.google.com).
